Best Bengali Web Series And Movies: OTT Platform Hoichoi To Launch 25 Original Web Shows, 6 Movies In 2021
Hoichoi Co-founder Vishnu Mohta believes that the Bengali audience is experimental and cerebral. There are two shows Panch Phoron 2 and Shabdo Jobdo are being aired currently
With an aim to tap more audience, Hoichoi is planning to launch more original contents in the Bengali language on the digital platform. The company will come up with 25 original web Series and six original movies in the next financial year 2021.
As reported in Financial Express, the company is now focusing more on the Indian Bengali and Bengalis living in Bangladesh and the diaspora markets. In the six original movies, four films will be produced out of Bangladesh.

The Financial Express reported, Mohta said that content will play a major role and the platform is not looking at advertising to garner revenues. “SVOD (subscription video-on-demand) is the only way to make money. We will be premiering Dwitiyo Purush next month on Hoichoi first,” he added.

The company aims to take to online video viewing by Financial Year 2023. According to CII-BCG report, India’s SVOD market is estimated to reach $1.5 billion by 2023.
